Annie Andrews
Democrat, running for U.S. Senate. Not in office now.
Subject: Annie Andrews, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in South Carolina, 2026, a pediatrician from Mount Pleasant Compiled: October 25, 2026 for the On Point Politics watchdog database, onpointpolitics.us Data cutoff: September 30, 2026 for FEC filings, reported October 17 to 20, 2026. Super PAC spending through October 15, 2026. Next scheduled data drop: FEC pre-general report covering through October 14, 2026, and the post-general report due December 3, 2026.
Bottom line up front
Andrews launched on May 29, 2025 against Lindsey Graham, per the SC Daily Gazette, scdailygazette.com. After his death she faces his sister, appointed Sen. Darline Graham. She has raised $19.7 million since launch, $9.4 million of it in the third quarter, and entered October with $2.3 million, per the SC Daily Gazette on October 20, 2026, scdailygazette.com. Graham raised $2.4 million in the same quarter. Outside money runs the other way: PACs spent $6.9 million against Andrews and $1.8 million for her.
Two interests combine money and a decision, and a third is the opposition:
- Small donors. About 95 percent of her third quarter money came from individuals, per the Post and Courier on October 17, 2026, postandcourier.com.
- Science and health advocacy groups. 314 Action bundled $3.6 million to her campaign. Fresh Start SC PAC spent about $871,000 for her and $1.63 million against Graham. The lever is health care law, above all Medicaid.
- National Republican money against her. SLF pledged about $5 million for Graham, and Security Is Strength PAC ran ads against Andrews.
Committee structure and treasurer
The campaign committee's FEC ID and treasurer were not verified. The aligned super PAC is Fresh Start SC PAC, FEC C00948869, run by Jalisa Washington-Price, per the Post and Courier on October 9, 2026. Through June 30 it had raised $80,000, from Susan P. Johnson at $55,000 in two gifts and Andrew Goffe at $25,000, per Legis1 relaying FEC data on October 15, 2026, legis1.com. Those filings do not show who paid for its October spending. It paid Waterfront Strategies about $2.48 million for TV and digital placement and MVAR Media about $16,000 for production.
Bloc: Small donors
Documented. $9.4 million in the third quarter, about 95 percent from individuals, and $19.7 million since launch. Donor counts were not reported.
Inference: Like the other Democratic Senate challengers in red states this year, her money is national and small. It gives no single donor leverage.
Bloc: Science and health advocacy groups
Documented. 314 Action bundled $3.6 million to her campaign, per 314 Action's Erik Polyak in the SC Daily Gazette on October 7, 2026, scdailygazette.com. Fresh Start SC spent about $2.5 million through October 15: $1.32 million on TV against Graham on October 7, $564,000 on TV and $300,000 on digital for Andrews, and $300,000 on digital against Graham. Its buys centered on the Greenville-Spartanburg and Charlotte markets. United Futures and Field Team 6 also ran positive ads, part of $1.7 million in positive outside ads. New Deal For All Inc., founded in October by Steve Pajcic, ran attack ads on Graham with Fresh Start, close to $2.9 million combined.
What they want. Her health platform: a public option, broader Medicaid eligibility, restored ACA subsidies that expired at the end of 2025, and reversing the Medicaid changes in the 2025 budget law. She says she does not support Medicare for All, per the SC Daily Gazette on October 12, 2026, scdailygazette.com.
Inference: The Greenville-Spartanburg focus of Fresh Start buys matches Graham's soft spot in the Upstate, where she lost counties in the primary.
Opposition money
Documented. SLF pledged about $5 million for Graham. Security Is Strength PAC ran ads opposing Andrews, and Trump reposted one on October 7. Outside groups spent about $4.5 million against her since early September, per the Post and Courier. Trump attacked her with a slur on October 5.
Positions and record
She proposes a two year data center moratorium with rules that make data centers pay their own way. She would raise the Social Security wage cap and never raise the retirement age. She opposes the Iran war and blames it for record fuel prices. She lost the 2022 race for the 1st District to Nancy Mace by nearly 14 points.
On transgender issues, she says she opposes transgender girls and women in female sports and opposes gender transition surgery on children. She has advocated for access to gender affirming care for minors in the past, per the Post and Courier.
Own finances and disclosure history
No Senate financial disclosure was retrieved. She spent 15 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, then worked part time at Children's National Hospital in Washington until June 2026. In 2023 she announced a PAC supporting children, whose name and filings were not found.
Enforcement and controversies
- MUSC departure. Contested. Graham spokesman T.W. Arrighi says she "lost her job at MUSC" over her positions on transgender treatment. The SC Daily Gazette reports she took a leave in September 2022, weeks before the election, because of political attacks, and announced her departure in June 2023. Her direct response to Arrighi's claim was not found in sources read.
- Ad dispute. Her October 8 ad, "I don't support biological men playing women's sports," drew criticism from Graham's camp and from LGBT advocates, per a Yahoo headline whose body was not read.
- Tax returns. Graham pressed her on releasing tax returns on October 23, per a headline only.
- No FEC or ethics complaint was found.
