Adam Hamilton
Democrat, running for U.S. Senate. Not in office now.
Subject: Adam Hamilton, Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Kansas, 2026, challenging Republican Sen. Roger Marshall Compiled: October 25, 2026 for the On Point Politics watchdog database, onpointpolitics.us Data cutoff: FEC data through September 30, 2026 as compiled by VoteLog, the pre-general period through October 14, 2026 as reported by CQ Roll Call, and independent expenditures through October 22, 2026. Next scheduled data drop: FEC 48 hour reports through Election Day and the post-general report due December 3, 2026.
Bottom line up front
Hamilton is a first time candidate and the founding pastor of the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, which a Kansas Reflector headline of July 22, 2026 calls the nation's largest Methodist church. He entered the race on April 30, 2026 and became one of the strongest Democratic fundraisers in the Senate map. A VoteLog compilation of FEC data shows $13,533,711 raised through September 30, 2026, of which $12,231,674 came from individuals and only $195,000 from PACs, votelog.org. CQ Roll Call reported another $5.6 million from October 1 to 14, spokesman.com.
Three money streams matter:
- Small and in-state donors. His first four days brought $1.01 million from 6,700 donors, about 70 percent from Kansas, kansasreflector.com.
- Democratic Senate super PACs. Groups counted as benefiting Hamilton include People Over Politics Action Fund at $9,657,045, WinSenate at $8,139,349 and Lower Costs Now at $2,933,659. WinSenate and Lower Costs Now are funded largely by SMP. Total outside money benefiting him was $27,771,284 through October 22, 2026, against $18,359,813 benefiting Marshall, per VoteLog.
- Farm country. He has no farm money identified, but the farm bill, tariffs and diesel prices are the live decisions where his pitch to unaffiliated and Republican leaning farmers lands.
Committee structure and treasurer
The authorized committee name, FEC committee ID and treasurer were not verified in this pass. Before launch, an Adam Hamilton Exploratory Committee took contributions through adamhamiltonexploratory.com, kansasreflector.com. Campaign manager Mike Phillips and spokesperson Tyson Brody speak for the campaign. VoteLog shows $1,016,500 in transfers from authorized committees, which points to at least one joint fundraising committee whose name was not found.
Small donors
Documented. The campaign reported $1.01 million in its first four days, from 6,700 individuals with an average gift of $140. It said 92 percent of donors gave $100 or less and that gifts came from 68 of 105 counties. In its first 62 days it reported $3.66 million from about 16,000 people, kansasreflector.com. A Political Wire headline reports a $10.6 million third quarter; that body was not read. VoteLog lists $50,206 of candidate self funding.
Inference: A base this wide gives no single donor leverage. The pressure points are the national groups that carry most of the paid media.
Party and leadership
Documented. WinSenate and Lower Costs Now are both funded by SMP, which VoteLog shows giving $171,120,000 to WinSenate and $30,000,000 to Lower Costs Now across all races this cycle. FF PAC gave Lower Costs Now $20,000,000. KCUR, relaying another outlet on October 9, 2026, reported that a PAC associated with Sen. Chuck Schumer put $5 million into the race, kcur.org. Hamilton said at the final debate that he would not vote for Schumer as leader. Marshall says Schumer funded Hamilton and would make him beholden.
Inference: The leadership vote is the one lever where his stated position cuts against his largest outside funders. Watch whether that pledge survives January 2027.
Ideological groups
Documented. People Over Politics Action Fund is the largest single outside spender on his side. Its top cycle funders are United Futures PAC at $6,250,000 and The Bench at $1,100,000. The Edge Action Fund, $2,475,000, and The 1861 Initiative, $1,461,683, also count as benefiting him. Their own donors were not traced.
Own finances and disclosure history
No Senate candidate financial disclosure was retrieved. KCUR reports he was a Republican until earlier in 2026, kcur.org. His income from the church, book royalties or speaking was not verified.
Enforcement and controversies
- FEC complaint, April 2026. Kansas GOP executive director Rob Fillion filed an FEC complaint alleging the church made an in-kind contribution by letting Hamilton use church channels, citing a February 27 video on the church YouTube channel. Hamilton's spokesman said Marshall was attacking people of faith. The church said it keeps clear boundaries and will not use its data, facilities or staff for the campaign. No outcome was reported, kansasreflector.com.
- 2005 church camp report. A Marshall campaign ad says Hamilton ignored parents and never called police after a 2005 report about a volunteer. Hamilton has said the 2005 inquiry was inconclusive and that he should have reported it to law enforcement. At the final debate he admitted a mistake in not checking whether the volunteer returned in 2006. Tall Oaks camp demanded the ad be suspended over an unauthorized photo; Marshall's staff said it was corrected, kansasreflector.com.
