Obama rallies Democrats in Cleveland and Detroit as Mike Rogers calls Abdul El-Sayed the most extreme candidate in the country
Obama campaigned for Sherrod Brown and Amy Acton in Ohio and for El-Sayed and Jocelyn Benson in Michigan. Trump voted early in Palm Beach and rallies in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday.
Former President Barack Obama campaigned Saturday in Cleveland for Senate candidate Sherrod Brown and governor nominee Amy Acton, then in Detroit for Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed and governor candidate Jocelyn Benson, Fox News reported. It was his first Detroit rally since October 2024, when he campaigned for Kamala Harris, Fox reported. At the "Fighting for Ohio" rally, Obama said, "We are looking for change right here in Ohio," WSYX ABC6 reported.
Acton told the crowd, "Mr. Ramaswamy you are out for yourself," and called her Republican opponent "a danger to my state," WSYX reported. She has accused Vivek Ramaswamy of exploiting her childhood trauma in an ad featuring her estranged mother; Gov. Mike DeWine urged Ramaswamy to pull the ad and Trump defended it, Fox reported. Brown, who is challenging Sen. Jon Husted, said "Today, corruption is woven into everything," according to WSYX. A Fox News poll had Brown at 52% to Husted's 47% and Acton at 50% to Ramaswamy's 48%, Fox reported. WSYX noted Trump carried Ohio by 11 points in 2024.
In Michigan, Republican Mike Rogers told Fox News Digital that El-Sayed is the "most extreme candidate" and a Democratic Socialists of America aligned candidate, and at a Lansing rally called him the most radical, extreme and anti business candidate in the country while again linking him to the Muslim Brotherhood, Fox reported. In an interview with Fox's Bret Baier, El-Sayed called the attacks on his loyalty unfair and said Rogers was making an issue of his Muslim faith. A Sept. 30 Fox News poll had El-Sayed at 50% and Rogers at 49%. Trump, who cast an early ballot in Palm Beach, Florida, with first lady Melania Trump on Saturday, is scheduled to rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, Fox reported.
